Another year, another rafl! It was admittedly slightly more complicated to run a global event with physical prizes this year, but the community came through and everything has gone smoothly so far! We raised a whopping $37,184 from 141 donors!

If you want to learn to pick locks that you own, that aren't installed in anything or otherwise in use, then this might be the place for you.

If you want to pick something because you need to get into it or through it, then this is NOT the place for you.

Make sure you include the belt color you're requesting, the model of the lock you've picked, and any evidence to the requirements for the belt you're requesting (eg. photo/video/etc.)

I know it’s not much of an achievement, being a cheap-ass Chinese lock. In my defence, I only got the sparrows tool a few hours ago and this padlock is 60mm and weighs a tonne! (I actually have a groove in my hand where I was holding it)

It was a nightmare to keep straight, too, because the keyway is just too shallow and the nose grabs two discs, so I had to hold it a few millimetres out of the lock. I’ll get some washers tomorrow…

Now I need to find some more locks I can front-tension to justify the cost of the tool.

Assa 6000 Twin - really dumb question

So I have a thing where if I spot a lock in my building complex, I'll buy a copy and see if I can pick it. Mailbox, security door, storage...I NEVER pick the original, though.

Today I received this from eBay. The item auction picture (as well as the lock in my building) read "Assa Abloy" but this one just says Assa. I'm assuming there's no real difference and this is the same core (Twin 6000) anyway?

I know I'm never gonna pick this anytime soon, just doing this out of curiosity.

MASSIVE shout out to 44 Delta and u/eschlenz

I ordered these on Friday afternoon UK time and they arrived this morning, 4 days later!!

Love the artwork on both locks but the brass shackle on the Paclock and details on the key are something else.

Absolutely worth the money and I look forward to future releases!

California Master 140 Class Action

Turns out, the Master 140 specifically (and nothing else in their line whatsoever apparently) is not as secure locking device as it claims. Who knew? I got my first open yesterday with my reaper #3 and a ergo turner.. today, I used the mctickler and the tomahawk turner got 4 solid attacks them I recorded and damit it, it's not having any of that nonsense I even asked it if I could film it cause u know privacy laws lmao...but I WILL GET MY BLUE BELT AND THE BEAUTIFUL PAC LOCK 200,000 PATCH...

Lock mail from sidepicks. I knew as soon as I seen a video on this lock I had to pick it. It’s a pip with trap pins that will brick it if you don’t set them properly and you will have to gut the lock to fix it.

American Lock Military?

I've had this lock for well over 20 years since I was in the military. I have both keys and the lock works smoothly. I'm just starting to get into picking and managed to get this picked once, but it was much more a monkeys typing Shakespeare than skill. There is no model number, and unlike most of these I find pictures of it does not have the "U.S." stamped on the opposite side from the logo. I'm hoping that someone here may have some experience with this series and can offer some insight. It is a 5-pin core and has some serrated pins and perhaps a spool. I think I'm likely oversetting one or more pins and seem to get further with light tension and counter rotation, but usually get stuck in a loop, setting and resetting. Any insight is appreciated. Thanks!

Got myself a decent delivery to celebrate getting my black belt. The Dom Diamant is the most aggressive looking keys in the batch. 2 magnetic locks, 2 of the safety deposit style DDs, Z Ikon wsw, lips octro, ICS, and a couple Assa locks I haven't seen before. The assa d12 with check pin is worth looking up. The other is a brown belt version of the combi.

90a-Pro Opened!

FedEx just dropped this ruby beauty off this morning, and after my first quick pick at it, I was kinda scared that it was going to take me a while to get an open. I couldn’t get a picture of it with the tools in because I was just playing with it for the second time while on a meeting with my boss when it popped! It definitely feels like a more vague 1100 in a lot of ways. Mine gives me a false set really early on, and then I’m dealing with a lot of spools that don’t feel as communicative as I’m used to.

I’m still not comfortable with this lock in the slightest, but I’ll be videoing this open for a 200k club submission once I have it locked in. If I had one recommendation for prepping for this, I’d say it would be picking up an Abus 76/40 to practice with. I don’t see them talked about much for locksport practice, but getting comfortable with those 8 spool pins made the 7 pins in the 90a-pro far less intimidating!
