After getting my Di2 firmware updated, I can now use "Front Shift Next", which frees up my Left Y input to use as D-Fly and use for whatever via my Edge.

I also have my left and right "A" buttons set as D Fly channels (So 3 D-Fly in total)

For both "A" inputs, the left and right default to this:

Single Press: Prev/Next Page

Double Press: Prev/Next Page

Long Press: Prev/Next Page

I not only want to assign these to different things (all good, that works fine), but I also want double press to be "Unassigned" - there is no option for this.

When connecting my Left Y input via D Fly to my Edge, all 3 (single, double and long press) come up as "Unassigned", so I know unassigned/null/undefined is a possible value for these keys.

I assume this happens because the two "A" buttons are the usual suspects for people to use for D-Fly, so Garmin has added defaults.

Whereas my Left "Y" being used as D-Fly is not a common thing, so they've not added defaults.

Is there a bug where the "Unassigned" option is missing from the list?
I am coming from a Wahoo Bolt V2 and have no experience with Edge devices in general.

I am unsure what to think of the screen size of 1040. the 850 would already be an upgrade to my Bolt V2 concerning the screen size and I think I‘d be perfectly fine with it in theory.

I guess the real question comes down to if I should stick with the more compact size and „nice“ screen of 850 or should I consider the previous flagship and just go big. Both pack much more features than I ever need in that sense.

It seems like battery life is a critical point for 850 (and a winning point for 1040); though 8-10 hours of screen time is more than what I do and I don‘t necessarily need the excellency of 1040‘s battery. Had no problems with my Bolt V2 during long bikepacking days either…

I could really use some real world experience with both, perhaps some of you were also stuck between the two models?

Thanks a lot! :)

   submitted by /u/666bpms
[link] [comments]

Can‘t decide between 850 or 1040

  submitted by /u/Paul_van_Gaul
[link] [comments]

Why Edge 840 not available anymore

I have a recently buried fiber optic line on my property that I'd like to keep track of so that it doesnt get severed during lawn aeration in the future (it isn't buried deeply).
