Hi everyone,

We’re creating this megathread to keep discussion of the Bambu Lab / OrcaSlicer-BambuLab / cease-and-desist situation in one place. This topic is important to a lot of people here, and we do not want to shut down discussion or criticism. At the same time, the front page has started filling with overlapping posts about the same situation, so we’re consolidating general discussion into this thread.

Current context

- Leonard French posted a new video around SFC’s AGPL analysis, explaining why Bambu’s proprietary networking plugin may create a serious corresponding-source problem under AGPL.

Retirement Age

I have a P1S with 2,500 hours after 8 months. I run it pretty much 24/7. At what point would you consider selling it locally and picking up a P2S or another X2D? I’m looking for how many hours starts to be a turnoff.

Custom filament profile assignment with RFID

Been working on a project to assign custom filament profiles on my X2D with RFID tags. I don't buy any Bambu filament, I also lot of filament from different brands. It gets a little hectic trying to keep track so I devised a system of my own.

Each filament spool gets a sample swatch and I stick an RFID tag on the back. When I load filament, I put the tag on top of the AMS.

I start with using it for updating Spoolman for filament tracking but recently integrated custom profile assignments on my X2D. Simply scanning the tray and tag loads the custom filament profile/color etc for that spool and autosycs to the custom profiles on Bambu Studio. It's like using Bambu filament, except you scan the tags.

I also made a little wireless scanner to keep next to the printer as it was getting annoying using my phone.

Tags also work on my Snapmaker U1 but I don't need to manually scan. U1 scans tags and done the same thing with OrcaSlicer pretty much.

Bambu Studio, Orca Slicer, Spoolman all seamlessly sync once I scan the tags.

Using Spoolman, Spoolmansync, Home Assistant.

I just felt like I had to say that somewhere... I've been printing for years but always on Ender or Ender clones. Just a hobbyist. Most recently I owned a Sovol SV06 and I thought it was pretty good. I did enjoy (2nd degree fun) the aspects of tweaking and repairing... but lately I've just wanted prints to work.

Enter the X1 Carbon and I had no idea just how advanced a printer could be. This thing is an absolute joy and the only downside is it's costing me a lot more in filament because I just want to be printing all the time.

For anyone considering it... do it. It's incredible.

Yes I know I can use isopropyl and I do often but I figured if I have two sides of the plate I should use both sides. Just want to make sure it wouldn’t mess with build plate detection in any way.

Anyone need an A1 AMS Lite top mount?

I have a full AMS Lite top mount kit for A1 I printed in translucent PETG. 3 walls and I think 30% gyroid infill. Decided to mount it on the wall. Was trowing it out and it didn't sit right. Includes the hardware kit. FREE-first to claim it gets it. I'll ship it at no cost.

hallo zusammen, seit einigen Tagen habe ich bei meinem A1, bei unterschiedlichen Dateien und auch unterschiedlichen Filamenten, diese Sprünge oder Fehler oder Linien wie auch immer man das nennen mag, bei den Bauteilen. Bisher habe ich die Riemen gespannt,Achsen gesäubert und geschmiert das Gerät kalibriert aber es hört nicht auf. Habt ihr einen Tipp für mich?

I made a browser-based tool for splitting painted 3MF models by color — Split3MF.com

It allows you to split single-mesh 3MF models based on the colors painted in slicers like Bambu Studio.

Here is what it can do:

Split by Color: Just click on painted regions to extract them as separate parts.
Auto Connectors: You can automatically generate and configure connection joints for the split parts.
Plane & Sketch Cut: Cut models with a plane or draw a custom sketch to slice exactly where you want — paint data is fully preserved either way.
Keep Colors & Settings: You can cut and split models while fully preserving the original paint data.

A few notes (and limitations) before you try:

It is currently in Open-Beta, so you might encounter some — actually, many — bugs!
It works for single-mesh models that have been painted.
Because it processes everything 100% locally in your browser (your files are never uploaded to a server), processing large models (over 10MB) can be "very slow". Right now, it works best for simpler models and quick jobs.

Sent a print to my printer without the pei plate on what should I do

So I’ve been printing a bulk load of prints for my gf and stupidly after the last large one I went to print the last file which were a few ankhs and I completely forgot to put back the pei plate I just checked on the printer and the bed and the prints came out fine without any damage to the bed itself from what I can see but I’m really freaked out to use the printer again for fear I might have ruined something can anybody let me know if this has happened to them before and If so what to do ? Currently recalibrating everything.

Bambu Studio 2.7.1 has become unusable on mac

The previous versions like 2.6 or 2.7.0 beta worked fine, but 2.7.1 is a disaster with crashes all the time, unresponsive UI, etc. How that ever got released is a mystery to me. Apparently nobody tests it.
